Sara Nichols is the Energy and Economic Development Program Manager at the Land of Sky Regional Council, where she leads broadband, digital equity, and community resilience initiatives across Western North Carolina. With more than 18 years of experience in regional planning and economic development, she has advanced transformative projects in broadband access, digital inclusion, and clean energy. Sara plays a key role in the Blue Ridge Broadband Alliance and has testified before Congress on rural connectivity challenges. She is also helping lead innovative resilience efforts, including community microgrids and communications hubs. Outside of work, she is a classically trained upright bass player who performs across the region.
