John Lenac has spent decades at the intersection of music and technology — from his early days in FM radio in the '90s to building digital platforms, producing live and virtual events, and creating immersive music experiences in VR. Along the way, he has led teams, developed artists, and advised startups where media, tech, and entertainment collide. Today, John channels that experience into several ventures. As Founder & CEO of techIT Media, he provides strategic solutions that help creatives and platforms navigate and thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Through Martian Music Collective, his record label and music publishing company, he works directly with artists to expand their reach, deepen fan connections, and build sustainable careers from their art and brand. As Chief Strategy Officer at Citizen Vinyl — one of the highest quality vinyl pressing plants in the United States — he helps bridge the gap between music's analog roots and its digital future. In 2020, John leaned into XR, helping Kluge Interactive with their music strategy and licensing music for the award-winning game Synth Riders. He continues that work today with studios like Flat2VR (Trombone Champ: Unflattened), while also teaching marketing at Berklee Online and consulting for music and tech startups. As Head of Programming and Artist/Label Relations at Yahoo! Music, John helped define the digital music space — delivering music and video to millions of fans well before Spotify or YouTube existed. Under his leadership, Yahoo! Music became one of the company's most successful properties, achieving record levels in ratings, revenue, and scale, and growing into the largest music website on the internet during his tenure. Earlier in his career, John worked in promotions at TVT Records, served as Rock Editor for HITS Magazine, and programmed KTOZ FM, one of the country's first alt-rock radio stations, in 1991. He has developed and managed artists, served as President of a music festival and concert series, and founded his own talent management company — work that contributed to hundreds of millions in album sales and earned him dozens of gold and platinum plaques. During the pandemic, John pivoted to live streaming, producing over 150 virtual events and raising more than $33 million for various charities. A highlight: following one of his David Bowie virtual tribute concerts, he collaborated with NASA to have Bowie's music played on Mars during the Perseverance Rover landing. John has moderated and spoken on panels at music industry conventions around the world, including SXSW, ASCAP Music Expo, CMJ, MUSEXPO, Music Export Finland, and the Worldwide Radio Summit. His work and insights have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Variety, Billboard, and MTV, among others.
